Bryce Canyon

11/7/18

Today was amazing exploring Bryce Canyon.  It’s like walking through nature’s castle with massive towers that look like drip castles of all different shapes and sizes, which are actually called hoodoos.  It’s amazing terrain and we were in awe the whole time.  We spent the entire day hiking throughout the park joining trails along the way.  We started on the Queens Garden trail which was incredible, then met up with the Peekaboo loop which was pretty long with lots of uphill and downhill.  As the sun started going down in the late afternoon the colors and details of the hoo doos changed.  We stopped and had lunch overlooking Windows Wall and hundreds of hoodoos.  We didn’t see anyone else on the trail after that.  As we walked it felt like we had the castle to ourselves.  After finishing Peekaboo we went up one side of the Navajo trail where we found switchback after switchback.  It was so crazy steep.  As we made our way up to Sunset Point there were a lot more people out and about taking photos.  Temperatures had dropped significantly in the last hour and half and my legs were starting to feel the 8 miles and 120 floors.  When we got to the top we celebrated with chocolate chip cookies and made our way back to the car at Sunset Point, finishing the Figure 8 trail loop.  We stopped at the visitor center to wash hands and for warmth and decided we would stay the night in a motel with temperatures dropping to 20 that night. One of the most magical places I’ve ever explored!
